The Journey of a Nia Routine continued…

Upon more reflection and playing, I found another song to swap into Sanjana Pop (that’s my name for the routine with new music). Instead of Air Batucada which is an original Sanajana track, I found that Ke$ha’s, Your Love it My Drug, works amazingly well!

Your Love is My Drug, Ke$ha

This track is fun and playful, yet the lyrics point to a more serious issue. Our relationships can become toxic and draining (like a drug) if we don’t ‘listen’ to our inner voice and needs. So couched in an innocuous pop hit is the reminder that even though being on the roller-coaster ride of love can be fun, it can also really suck. So listen to your Self and play within safe boundaries (physical and emotional). The choreography can be used to feel the push-pull off centre as well as feeling the silly, super-high joy that comes with being high on love, with the shimmies. Fast foot-work helps to keep the feeling light and upbeat. There’s a lot of room for creative expression in this track with the upper extremities too!
